Books

So many books have helped me become the person I am. I continue to learn and grow from the books I read and the ones I write. (One so far, to be exact!)

It has been quite an interesting journey, one of millions of words, to get to this point. Fun and rewarding, yet very challenging. Not something I was prepared for when I started and I feel equally unprepared now. But I keep putting pen to paper! Join me on this fantastic adventure into what it means to be creative. For the Body

Videos

My children introduced me to YouTube when they were still tweens. For me, the platform represents some of the most amazing content to be shared in a very long time. The only challenge is – the wild west nature of it all. It is hard to find what you like and many people my age, give up too early. Because of the vast amount of choice and the frequency at which new videos are uploaded, it does take some time to find the niche you are interested in.

But, don’t despair! Sign up for a google account, (if you don’t have one already), and get started! When you find something you like, press the little thumbs up button. You could also leave a nice comment. And the ultimate compliment to give the creator is to press the red subscribe button. Go ahead and have fun!For Learning

Podcasts

Podcasts are a great way to be entertained or learn something new while on the go. Standing on the train or riding on the bus, I love to tuck into a good podcast.

  • On Being with Krista Tippett – A Peabody Award-winning public radio show and podcast. What does it mean to be human? How do we want to live? And who will we be to each other? Each week a new discovery about the immensity of our lives.
  • Oprah’s SuperSoul Converstaions

Courses

Courses, seminars, retreats or workshops – online or in real life, the options are endless! It is a fantastic new world for learning, meeting people, experiencing new ideas. There is no limit to what is being offered. Let your fingers do the walking on the keyboard and see what fits your interest and budget. Some are even free!

Early on I discovered e-courses. I like to joke that I have completed a masters degree in ‘life’ by taking all the courses that have interested me along the way. I feel learning through e-courses, particularly self paced ones, lets me explore my thoughts and feelings, matching up to the presented material that is just not possible in physical classroom setting.

Here are some noteworthy ones I have taken:

Let’s not also forget, there is value in attending a seminar, workshop or course – IRL, otherwise known as In Real Life!

  • Attended 2 years of The World Domination Summit in Portland, Oregon
  • Took a class to learn about using the Annie Sloan chalk paint system
  • Followed the book, 6 Weeks To A New Body by Maureen Hagan to give myself a new body!

It seems crazy to me to be literally throwing away trees!

These super absorbent un-paper towels were quick and easy to make and will last for years. We keep a nice big stack in a top drawer in the kitchen for the spills and cleanups that are a part of every day life. Simply throw them in the laundry with some bleach and reuse. When they get too stained for the kitchen, they move to my husbands shop for another life cycle out there!
